Tracy credits former San Marcos High School counselor and past SBEF board president Frank Stevens for introducing her to the foundation. As an early recipient of our Teacher Grants program, she used the funding to launch La Colina’s coding and robotics program. Tracy also served as a grant panelist for Teacher Grants and taught at our popular summer STEAM Camps.

“I don’t have a lot to give, so I try to give to organizations in my community that make a difference to a large number of people,” Tracy shared. “SBEF’s reach is broad, and its work impacts so many teachers, students, and families. I also donate here because I know the people in this organization, and I know their overhead is very low, and the staff has a pulse on what’s going on in our schools.”

In 2021, Tracy became a monthly donor, initially contributing the equivalent of a single lunch each week. Over time, she increased her support, surprised at how much her contributions have added up. “I plan to continue giving to the Santa Barbara Education Foundation even after I retire because I know I’m supporting work that truly matters and directly impacts our community,” she said.
