The Santa Barbara Education Foundation is proud to support the Santa Barbara Unified’s 2nd Annual Family Literacy Festival, a free community event celebrating the joy of reading, learning, and family connection.

The festival will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Public Library (40 E. Anapamu St.) and is open to students and families in grades PK–12.

This fun-filled event will feature:

  • Meet the Author Story Time Sessions with local writers
  • Hands-on literacy and family activities
  • Arts and crafts
  • Community literacy resources
  • Opportunities to connect with educators and local organizations

Throughout the day, local authors will lead engaging read-aloud sessions designed to spark imagination and inspire a lifelong love of reading. Each session includes a short introduction and live reading, giving students a chance to connect directly with the people behind the stories. Featured authors include Simone Ruskamp, Elizabeth Fuscue, Mona Damluji, Fleurie Leclercq, Thomas Sanchez, Taran Collis, and Dr. Victor Rios.

The Family Literacy Festival brings together schools, families, and the community to reinforce a simple but powerful message: Readers are leaders.

We hope you’ll join us for a day of stories, creativity, and community as we work together to build strong readers and bright futures.
